Players Constitution and organisation - 2006/10/21 05:30 Now that we have the capacity to maintain dialogue using a tool like this I suggest that we start to work through the process of getting the players sorted in terms of legal entity, responsibilities and protection for individuals (most notably Maggie! - who currently bears the brunt of any officialdom that may arise).

Being formalised does not necessarily mean being formal. I suggest that we need to set a deadline for agreement on the constitution of April 4th 2007. This allows all financial affairs and legal affairs to operate within the govt financial year (just in case we ever get funding or govt scrutiny).

Thoughts?

Re:Players Constitution and organisation - 2006/10/22 04:35 I would certainly support a move to get our organisation more formally agreed. It need not be anything too complicated; in fact, I've already given Maggie the one used by the Sodbury Players.

Also, I'd like to see some of the burden of running the group eased from Keith in particular; he does a fantastic job and people don't realise just how much he does nor how much hard work it is. I feel it's important for Keith and important for the group that some of these responsibilities are clearly shared between people. Perhaps we could have a committee, with some people having specific roles? As well as sharing jobs, this could also share the decision making of the group and give people a feeling of greater inclusion.

For example, we might have these roles:

  • Chairman - day to day running of the group

  • Secretary - also responsible for day to day running

  • Publicity

  • Treasurer

  • Plus others to assist

  • We might even think about having a social secretary to organise group events, bringing us closer together and perhaps acting as a catalyst to grow the group.
